An increasing number of organizations are aware of the need to manage their information as a resource of strategic value, but that nevertheless have difficulty putting it into practice. And unlike what happens with other areas of management, there is no formalized models for the design and implementation of systems to manage the information.
methodologies and tools are needed for implementing or improving management systems information specifically tailored to the characteristics and needs of different types of organizations, management models as a framework of reference.
why I thought it was interesting to collect proposal made by the Foundation EDE for " information management in the third sector of Bizkaia " and that includes the following phases:
1. - Preliminary investigation Culture =
information
The objective of this stage is to provide the organization an understanding of the context in which it operates, so that they can identify the factors that influence the creation of a system of information management.
This phase detects the importance the organization attaches to information and the measures implemented to its incorporation as a strategic resource. Is an important starting point for gathering information on the vision that the entity has with respect to the concept and value of information, helping to define the situation in culture of information and assess possible shortcomings.
2 .- Analysis of the activities of the organization =
Information needs
The objective of this stage is to develop a conceptual model of what an organization does and how.
Try to measure the degree of satisfaction of their needs for information on the areas that should be of interest. Timely coverage of the areas that should be known and for which one must have the relevant information will contribute to decision making and proper positioning in the environment.
3 .-. Id = id requirements and monitoring of information sources
The objective of this stage is to assess the systematization of information sources required to meet the needs of the organization.
is to identify the requirements to be met by the organization to make a structured and systematic monitoring of the information you need. The requirements for identification and tracking of sources of information are defined through a systematic analysis of the needs of the organization. This step provides the rationale for the identification, tracing and analysis of information sources and the basis for the design of systems that incorporate and be responsible for maintaining them.
4 .- Assessment of existing = Treatment and dissemination of information
The aim of this stage is to analyze the procedures, tools and criteria for the classification, storage, access and dissemination of information to assess how much information is handled and disseminated in a manner consistent with the activities and objectives of the organization.
5 -. Identify strategies to meet the requirements = Enhancement of information
The objective of this stage is to evaluate the use of the organization does with the information obtained as a tool for decision making. In turn, adequate enhancement of the information should provide policies, procedures, policies and plans that the organization needs for success of their business.
